What's the difference between standard nbn Sky Muster and nbn Sky Muster Plus?

What is standard nbn Sky Muster?

In the past, standard nbn Sky Muster was all that was available. With standard nbn Sky Muster, everything you do on the internet is metered. This means that any activity such as making a video call, paying your bill or listening to some music streams counted towards your monthly data allowance. Over time and as family’s used it, more often than not, they’d run out of data and would have to wait until the end of the month for it to reset. When you run out of data on standard nbn Sky Muster, the internet is slowed down for the rest of the month and that’s for every activity you might do. With nbn Sky Muster Plus, things are different. Recommended for those who are just looking for basic internet and don't need much data.

What is nbn Sky Muster Plus

nbn Sky Muster Plus is different to standard nbn Sky Muster. It is a hybrid of metered and unmetered activities. There are certain things that you would do on the internet that are metered on nbn Sky Muster Plus such as video streaming, VPN use and any unclassified activities that cannot be classified by any of the other activity types. When you run out of metered data on nbn Sky Muster Plus, your metered activities are slowed down for the rest of the month, similar to what happens with standard nbn Sky Muster. However, Sky Muster Plus has a bunch of very useful unmetered activities that will never count towards your monthly data allowance. Even if your metered data has run out, you can still keep doing these unmetered activities without being slowed down or limited by how much you use. Popular internet activities like music streaming, gaming software updates, Wi-Fi calling, video calling and even browsing so you can pay your bills will never count towards your monthly data allowance on nbn Sky Muster Plus.

What is the difference between metered and unmetered data

Metered Data:

What counts towards your monthly data allowance and is limited by how much metered data is available on your family's plan each month. Once it's all used up, the INTERNET for that activity will be slowed down for the rest of the month.

Unmetered Data:

What doesn't count towards monthly data allowance and these activities will always be available to your and your family to use each month

(2)Includes Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Tumblr and LinkedIn. Embedded video in other applications is metered.

(3)Shaping to 256Kbps may occur between 4pm and 11pm.

When peak metered data is exhausted, metered internet activity is shaped during the peak period to 512Kbps download and 256Kbps upload. When off peak metered data is exhausted, metered internet activity is shaped during the off peak period to 2048Kbps download and 512Kbps upload
